How do I get access using my VR headset?

You must use a headset that is able to download and use the free AltspaceVR app. Once you have access, you will want to enter our main Film Festival Hub.

How do I get AltspaceVR?

AltspaceVR is the Premiere Metaverse Experience where you can become a Custom Avatar via PC, MAC, and most virtual reality headsets. Download the FREE app.

You will need to create an account using any Microsoft Login and build a custom avatar of yourself or use the default avatar setting. Watch this short video for instructions.

Can I access virtual reality on my Mac or Pc?

Yes! Make sure you have your AltspaceVR set up completed. Then access the main Film Festival Hub here:

How do I set up an AltspaceVR account? 

Here is a short video to walk you through the process of setting up your AltspaceVR account. We recommend you do this immediately so you can join in all the Film Festival fun and learn the platform functionality.

If I’m in VR, will I really be able to interact with Zoom Participants?

Yes. You will see the real time Zoom, who will be watching you, as well. At designated times, conversations will be encouraged across the platforms. Connecting the physical world with the virtual world.Metaverse! Boom! Mind blown?!

If I’m in VR, how will I be able to ask a question during the Q & A Panel?

Use the “Raise Hand” feature that will appear on the lower right side of your screen. Do NOT select from your emoji menu. During the Q & A section, one of our BRCvr Staff will unmute you, say your name, and invite you to ask your question. And yes, everyone in Zoom will see and hear you.

What can I experience in VR?

The BRCvr Film Festival has created three distinct, immersive worlds inspired by the art and subjects of the three films. Each film will be shown in that unique world, followed by the Q & A, and after-party with DJ. There will be unique links and codes to access each film, BUT you don’t need them. You can access portals to each Film Festival World through the Hub World Link/Code.

Where can I get VR tech support?

For general AltspaceVR support, we recommend you go to the AltspaceVRDiscord channel or visit the Campfire World inside AltspaceVR. You can always find Campfire on your AltspaceVR ribbon. There are AltspaceVR team members there, as well as many helpful community members.

For Film Festival questions, you can private message anyone with the name “BRCvr Staff,” or log into our Zoom event and go into the Technical Break Out Room.

If I’m in VR, how can I interact with people in Zoom?

In the spirit of the Burning Man Principles, we believe in Radical Inclusion. Through proprietary methods, anyone in VR will be able to see and hear what’s going on in Zoom. Also, everyone in Zoom will be able to see and hear what’s going on in VR. Connecting the physical world with the virtual world. Metaverse! Boom! Mind blown?!

If the guests are in zoom, but I’m in VR, how will I be able to ask my question during the Q & A?

Anyone in VR who wants to ask a question during the Q & A sessions will simply use the “Raise Hand” emoji. You can find this on the lower right side of your screen. If you are selected, a Staff member will unmute you, your name will be called, and you will be able to ask your question live. Everyone in Zoom will see you and hear your question.

If we are all on mute in VR, how will the people in Zoom hear us?

Both Zoom and VR participants will be forced onto mute during the film and the Q & A session. If you are selected to ask a question, our team will work with you to unmute at the designated time. EVERYONE will be unmuted during the final hour of each session for the after-party with the live DJ. This will be your chance to discuss, engage with each other, and DANCE!

How long do I need to stay logged into VR?

The BRCvr Film Festival is broken up into 3 sessions (times are in PST): 10am (Burning Man: Art on Fire), 2pm (Larry: A Burning Man Story), and 7pm (TV Free Burning Man). We have created three distinct immersive worlds, one for each film. However, you can log off at any time and just easily re-enter via the Film Festival Hub event.

Can I participate in VR on my phone?

No. AltspaceVR is not available on mobile devices.

What can I experience on Zoom?

Zoom participants will have a complete film festival experience. Here is what you can access via the Zoom link:

When you log into our Zoom event, there will be a Tech Support Breakout room.

If you are selected, you will be asked to unmute your microphone and then ask your question live. Everyone in VR will see you and hear your question including our Q&A guests..

If we are all on the mute in Zoom, how will the people in VR hear us?

Both Zoom and VR participants will be forced onto mute during the film and the Q & A session. If you are selected to ask a question, our team will work with you to unmute at the designated time. EVERYONE will be unmuted during the final hour of each session for the after-party with the live DJ. This will be your chance to discuss, engage with each other, and DANCE!

How long do I need to stay logged into Zoom?

There is only ONE ZOOM for the entire day. You are free to enter and exit at your leisure. See the schedule below to help further map out your day.
